CHANGING OF THE BRIDE
No longer wishing to be a princess,
today’s brides are all about
Personal stylists, fitness trainers and hair & makeup artist, these are just a few members of today’s brides dream- team to help create their wedding day look. Blame it on reality TV, the red carpet, or just the evolution of the bride. Have the days of the traditional updos, tiara and puffy veils fallen by the wayside? Maybe. “A bride’s wedding day is her day to go all out glam. Brides want to look like a celebrity or model for the day and they are willing to go the extra mile to get that look,” says Lori Dunn model, stylist and owner of ModelBride.
Many brides use celebrity looks for inspiration, but want to create their own unique wedding day look. The tiara has been replaced by crystal broaches placed on the side, headbands, or even feathered flowers. Full veils have been toned down to add just a bit of soft tuling. Brides are adding touches of color, whether it’s with colored hair crystals, handbags or even blue bridal shoes. Today’s bride thinks high fashion as well as practicality. Many brides buy a pair of drop dead gorgeous bridal shoes with bling such as the Betsey Johnson Gown in Royal Blue as well as a lower heeled more comfortable pair for the end of the night.
Of course, a
Brides not only have hair and makeup for the big day, but incorporate many other beauty tricks & treatments to create a celebrity look. Beauty treatments such as teeth whitening and microderm abrasion are par for the course with most brides, as well as hiring personal trainers. “Fifty percent of our brides, many moms and entire bridal parties are adding hair extension and false eyelashes.” says Dunn. “Our team of artist work with celebrities and models daily, so recreating those looks for the brides comes natural.”
So by hiring a bridal beauty dream- team, visions of glamour can come true… because today’s bride may not want to look like a princess, but how about a Super Model!
